ABOUT US

We want to make the world a better place; one business at a time. That’s our mission. To liberate our communitas from ever increasing electricity bills. To reduce global warming. To save trees, save the planet, and make the earth a better place for our children. If this sounds a little “mushy,’ don’t worry. We’re dedicated to excellence. We know we’re manufacturing the best-in-class energy efficient searchlight products. And we will continue to deliver innovative alternatives along with the best customers service, quality and value to our clientele over time. After all, our mission isn’t just to make the world a better place; it’s to be the best in our industry.

Common Questions We Can Answer...

Q: How far can your searchlights be seen?
A: The visibility range of our searchlights depends on the model selected and prevailing atmospheric conditions (typically 3 to 18+ miles). When beams are rotated 360 degrees, the visual effect can extend the perceived distance up to twice as far.

Q: Are there any FAA concerns?
A: No. Our searchlights operate safely and in compliance with FAA guidelines. FAA concerns are typically directed at lasers, not broadband searchlights like ours. When required, we use acceptable control measures to ensure safe operation.

Safety Considerations

NASA Searchlights’ Commitment to Quality & Innovation

Innovation & Sustainability

Mobile NASA searchlight system mounted on a dual-axle trailer.

• Avoid searchlights that use Xenon lamps.

• Xenon gas inside short-arc lamps is maintained at extremely high pressure, posing significant safety risks.

• If ruptured, lamp fragments can be ejected at high velocity, causing severe injuries or damage.

• Xenon lamps are mildly radioactive, requiring special safety handling procedures.

• NASA Searchlights uses 21st-century technology that eliminates these safety concerns.

• The lamps used in NASA Searchlights are not under atmospheric pressure, removing the risk of explosion.

• Safe handling does not require protective ballistic gear, unlike Xenon lamps.

Beware of Imported Searchlights

Spotlight with a red prohibition symbol over it.

• Be cautious of searchlights imported from China or India.

• Some companies misrepresent their products as “Made in the USA” while using foreign-manufactured parts.

• Imported searchlights often lack safety certifications and long-term durability.

• Wattage does NOT equal brightness.

• Many sellers mislead customers by equating higher wattage with greater brightness.

• In reality, different lamp technologies produce varying brightness levels per watt.

• Example: NASA Searchlights’ 850-watt HD-1 searchlight is brighter than many 4000-watt Xenon searchlights.

• Understanding Candlepower Ratings:

• Some competitors falsely claim exaggerated candlepower ratings.

• NASA Searchlights measures actual brightness using standardized techniques.

• Example: NASA Searchlights’ HD-1 model reaches 1.7 billion candlepower, unmatched by other manufacturers.
